What's an Apostille?

In 1961, nations joined to create a simplifed method of legalizing documents that would meet the standards for universal recognition. Members of the conference, known as the Hague Convention, adopted a document referred to as an Apostille which would be recognized by all member nations. Documents bearing apostilles could be submitted to the member nations without further authentications.
